PushPULL Dance Toronto - About Us

Founded in 2004, PushPULL Dance is a company of non-professional, adult dancers which embraces the diversity of the dance backgrounds and life experiences of its members. This diversity is what sets it apart as a unique and exciting company within the Toronto dance community. We strive to be inclusive by welcoming not only technically proficient dancers, but also individuals with minimal training who have a passion for dance performance and are willing to commit to learning to dance at a required level.

PushPULL welcomes adult dancers of any age, gender, culture or body type. Through the diversity of our members, we are able to create performances that embody a variety of dance styles. To date, PushPULL has performed a smorgasbord of dance styles including jazz, contemporary, modern, ballet, tap, hip hop, swing, salsa, African, Bollywood and traditional Chinese dance.

The members of PushPULL Dance would like to acknowledge with humility and respect that we dance on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe, Mississauga, Haudenosaunee and Huron-Wendat peoples, as well as on the unceded Anishinaabe Algonquin territory.  We acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa peoples.  We honour and recognize the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit, as well as all First Peoples worldwide. As with all things meaningful, words matter, but actions matter more. Let these words be a reminder of the work that is still to be done.
